when it all seems dark and scary

For the past several weeks, my daughter has had some seemingly random and fairly serious allergic reactions, which I have shared about before.

It has made going out and eating quite fearful more than a few times.

There is nothing that terrifies me more than watching someone I love struggle to breathe.

When my son was struggling to breathe in the hospital as a toddler, in the middle of the night, from crib side I cried out to God with every fibre of my being to tell us why this was happening.

And in the middle of the night, I heard God answer.

But due to my fear and insecurity at the time, I doubted what I heard.

God knew this would happen, and prompted one of my pastors who had been encouraging me to practice the prophetic and listen with expectation to His voice, to get up and call me in the wee hours.

And tell me that God had told me what the cause was, and to trust I had heard from Him.

Needless to say, I was flabbergasted and slobberingly weepy with gratitude by the end of that call.

God heard me in that mess, and gave me the insight to know why, and how to prevent it again.

Flash forward to this week, and my daughter was preparing for her allergy testing appointment.

I asked God to clarify if there was anything unusual we should ask for testing on.

He prompted me with five allergens which are more unusual, so my daughter added them to her list.

All five tested extremely high in the testing.

Now, old me would have possibly doubted that I should share what I heard.

New me has realized that speaking out what could be possible doesn’t make it possible when I leave my fear and trepidations in His hands, the God of the impossible.

If I am listening for His voice and testing what I am hearing to see if it aligns up with His Word and gets confirmation?

Either way the answer comes out, He is looking out for me.

So when all seems dark and dim, I am learning to turn to the Light as soon as possible.

What appears as blackest night reveals the increased shades of greys when the Light shines upon it.

For the darkness cannot overcome the Light, and it loses its grip over my emotions and doubts when it is put into its proper perspective. In the Light of the Word.

The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out. John 1:5 MSG

If you too are wrestling with a difficult situation, He is waiting to shine His light on you:

○To cover you with the safety of His embrace.
○To overshadow you with the light of His Presence.
○To calm you with the breadth, width, height, depth and passion of His love.
