in the eye of the beholder

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I behold you to be quite beautiful.

These words spoken by one character to another in a novel by Kimberly Rae Jordan, pierced my heart.

For when I read those words, in that split second God spoke them directly to me.

And I become gloriously unraveled.

Because today I feel anything but beautiful. A bad reaction to something I ate yesterday has left me feeling blechy and weary.

As unlovely after nausea is through with you can get.

I don’t believe in coincidence.

I believe in God’s timing.

He knew I would need to hear how He feels about me when I was al wrapped up in my own feelings.

God specializes in taking the bitterness we settle for and making it sweeter than we could ever imagine.
I don’t believe I am alone in getting entangled in my own feelings, because we ladies especially are more alike Han we realize.

We all were made in His image.
Shaped by His hands.
Planned to be His.
Loved beyond measure.
Pursued relentlessly.

And seen as beautiful by the One whose voice and opinion matters most, above all others.

By giving Him the lies leaking bitterness into our souls and spirits, God releases us into the sweetness of a deeper awareness of His Presence, and His love for us.

A beautiful exchange, from the nail scarred hands of the One who died for you & I, out of the depth of His love for us.

Spend some time with Him today. Let the truth of how He sees you sink deep within, Beloved.

For you are beautiful in the eyes of Your King, too!

  1. You’re a fantastic poet. I love visiting your blog. I love this: “God specializes in taking the bitterness we settle for and making it sweeter than we could ever imagine.” Amen to that. Amen to Him for taking it all and making beautiful things out of us. Beauty from ashes. Have a blessed week! πŸ˜€
