This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” Romans 8:15 MSG

My father passed away when I was quite young, so I don’t have many memories of him. I do remember being excited to see him at the one Christmas I remember with him, and being given a Snoopy ukulele. My father knew from a very young age that I was musically inclined.

His sudden death before I turned three left a hole in my heart.

My mother remarried a wonderful man who stepped in to daddy me as best he could. He discussed my projects and grades, while encouraging me to read and seek knowledge. He never failed to show an interest in the major things which mattered to me. He is still a great hugger, and source of wisdom.

When I discovered my Father, with wide open arms, constant love and ever listening ears, I thought I had unwrapped the best gift imaginable! His love has helped me hand over the hurts of being loved by my earthly daddies, and allow Him to soothe, heal and restore my heart into wholeness.

The blessings He has given me since then have stirred my heart to expect more from Him, and wait in that expectation hopeful with excitement, trusting in His goodness.

Pause and Apply: Ask your Abba to reveal any memories or lies you need to give Him, so He can heal you with His Father’s touch.

Prayer: May I wake expectant every morning to take in the adventures I have waiting with You at my side, Father!
