LOST in WONDER…a fresh new day

Each time the snow falls, everything I see seems to be made so white, clean and fresh all over again.

Taking a stroll through the neighborhood before the plows and neighbors begin to shovel the excess snow away, it becomes possible to believe in fresh starts, doesn’t it?

Part of my heart is still hurting from the loss of oue beloved cat Hope earlier this week. I had a hard time falling asleep, I was missing her so much. Her purr and her fluffy welcome at the door were part of our family for over 14 years.

We had had some discussions about when we would bring a new kitty or two into the house again when Hope started growing increasingly unwell.

Friday morning, I woke up and knew we needed to be looking.

Not exactly sure why, I posted a comment that we were interested in adopting a kitty or two on my Facebook profile, and a former coworker aka fellow cat lover commented that this weekend, our local SPCA had a reduced adoption fee special…

So just over two hours ago we went and fell in love with Mr Rogers. He is as lovely as the both men they named him for, Mr Rogers the kids tv host, and Steve Rogers aka Captain America.

If we had not gone today, Mr Rogers would still be in limbo awaiting his fresh start.

And so would we.

It is so His timing to bless us when we least expect it, isn’t it?!

We now have a fully grown 1 year old male whom we are patiently waiting to come out from under our sofa and get to know better.

So he will not just sense he is in another strange environment, but will come to know he has a new start in a home where he will be loved, played with, well cared for and enjoyed.

We too get a new start.

A fresh slate of possibility.

A new day of uncharted promise awaits.

But its not just about us getting a new cat.

God reminds me often through His Word that each day we have is a loving gift from Him to unwrap and fully live…

A new day will dawn on us from above because our God is loving and merciful. Luke 1:78 God’s Word Translation

God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out, His merciful love couldn’t have dried up. They’re created new every morning. How great Your faithfulness! Lamentations 3:22-23 MSG

Let’s celebrate the dawn of each new day we are blessed with, and thank Him for being with us as we lay our head down to rest!
