Waiting.
Not my preferred choice for anything, to be honest.
I find it especially hard to wait when its some thing I am passionate about, or if it has been promised to me.
One of my favorite parts of the Christmas story (Luke 2:1-21) follows it in the next few verses (Luke 2:22-38).
Jesus has been born, and is being brought to the temple as part of the tradition of having a firstborn son.
As far as we know to this point, the only people who know of Jesus’ birth are his direct family, some shepherds and a few not saying much stable animals.
And yet, when Joseph and Mary enter the temple as traditionally done to celebrate their firstborn, first a devout Jew named Simeon comes to meet them, having been directed there by Holy Spirit.
Simeon had been praying for the Messiah to come, and God had promised he would see Him before he passed.
Not only did Simeon bless both the Messiah and Mary, He praised God for delivering His promise, literally in the baby and keeping his promise to His people as a whole & Simeon specifically!
Tomorrow, I will share part two of this piece. Sorry to keep you waiting!
