kicking regret to the curbside

When dealing with FEAR, there is one trigger which often gets overlooked.

REGRET is the final piece to chat about today.
We often do things which we regret. Say an unkind word, forget to do something important, or do something we shouldn’t have. Left unchecked, these can become fearful roots in our relationships.
If regret is growing in your life, you can become afraid to speak your mind, afraid you won’t be heard if you do, and afraid of what others will say or do.
Regret without restoration undermines relationships as it builds walls between us and increases our fears.
Afraid to speak? Concerned you might have damaged a relationship and you are hesitant about repairing it?

  • Ask God for His help.
  • Invite Holy Spirit to highlight where the fearful root first took place, and give it over to Him for His healing.
  • Ask His forgiveness for your part.
  • Allow Him to minister to and love up on you.
  • Speak to the person you hurt, and ask for their forgiveness. Whether they accept your request or not, you will have laid your part in the situation to rest, and you can move forward without the weight of that regret.

One of my favorite verses when dealing with fear is 2 Timothy 1:7:

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” (NIV)

Another translation puts it even better:

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” NKJV

Fears which hold us back don’t come from God, in fact the opposite is true…

Everything we need to conquer regret and fear is not only found in Him but given as a gift to us!!
Leave regret by the curbside for pick up, friend.

Invite God to help you pack it up and replace it with healing, freedom and peace. His love and strength are more enough to help you do so!
