There have been a few moments when brokenness has become a gateway to blessing in my life, where laying all I have down led to a breakthrough that I never anticipated.
For me, this often happens during prolonged times of worship. As a singer and part of my church’s worship team, we practice our set list before our service, and as I pour myself out to serve Him when I am scheduled? He. Shows. Up. Every single time.
Because a life, a heart, a set of hands poured out on the altar before Him is attractive to God, for it means our brokenness makes room for His mightiness to move within us and overflow out of us.
The first time I heard the following song, Gracefully Broken, I was brought to sobbing tears, with a madly running nose, and a crazy beating heart as I felt led to surrender myself just as I was in that moment, in all my broken weaknesses, hurting scenarios and future unexpectedness.
My prayer for you, friend, is to find the God who meets us, ministers to us and through us just as we are, despite our broken pieces, broken hearts, broken bodies, broken dreams. May He meet you today, as you lay all you are before Him, and watch Him move before you in unexpected freeing ways beyond belief!
“Gracefully Broken” by Matt Redman
Take all I have in these hands and multiply, God, all that I am. And find my heart on the altar again, set me on fire, set me on fire.
Here I am, God
Arms wide open
Pouring out my life
Gracefully brokenMy heart stands in awe of Your name, Your mighty love stands strong to the end. You will fulfill Your purpose for me, You won’t forsake me, You will be with me!
Here I am, God
Arms wide open
Pouring out my life
Gracefully broken
