Taking a closer look at “the”

THE. A definitive article.

A. Used as a function word to indicate that a following noun or noun equivalent is definite or has been previously specified by context or by circumstance (ie. put the cat out)

B. Used as a function word to indicate that a following noun or noun equivalent is a unique or a particular member of its class (ie. the Lord)

(Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

This linking word helps to heighten awareness of just who Jesus is.

THE Lord.

Which means the One and Only, unique and the only one of His class/kind.

I love how God chose to press this point home as He inspired the Word & the many millions of worship songs which have celebrated and proclaimed this truth over the past 2000 years.

Jesus is Christ THE Lord! The Only God who has wrapped Himself in humanity and come from heaven to live among us, and show us just how much God truly loves each one of us!

Good news this Christmas, and every day!!

Word: “For today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ THE Lord.” Luke 2:11
