This being the last installment of this series on the chorus of “Oh Come All Ye Faithful,” I find it so fitting that it will end on one of my favorite Words.

Lord.

And again, it refers to Jesus by title, and by name.

He is Lord over all, reigning in heaven and earth. His Name by birthright as Son of God, whose full inheritance (you and I as His Bride!) is yet to be fully collected. He is all powerful, and will rule for all eternity.

All these thoughts run quickly through my head when I hear, read or sing the word Lord, but especially so this time of year.

The Lord over all, Jesus, came to live, breathe, cry, and love among us, starting just as we each did, a humble wrinkly needy baby!

So sing this familiar tune with a wee more reverence, awe and gusto this weekend, friend, as we gather to celebrate our Lord’s birth!
