why we can build our foundation upon the Word

When your world turns upside down, even in a good way, it can be a bit daunting to take the next step, even though you know God is with you.

I draw quite a bit of comfort from the Word, but today I felt prompted to read a familiar chapter and saw it with a fresh set of eyes: John 1 MSG

That’s when I saw it. As if it was the first time, in verse 14.

The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.

WOW! God can relate to how I am feeling, because not only did He put on flesh and bone, and move into our neighborhood (earth), He brought His Kingdom down with Him and showed it to us. He released life through His actions, words, and very breath.

As awesome as that verse is, I realized that just knowing this fact was not enough.  Knowing God is close by and glorious is only part of what I need to see, touch, taste and experience as I am learn to become a new me.

When I went back and reread John 1, I was then thrilled to discover the following verses 9-13:

The Life-Light was the real thing: Every person entering Life He brings into Light. He was in the world, the world was there through Him, and yet the world didn’t even notice. He came to His own people, but they didn’t want Him. But whoever did want Him, who believed He was who He claimed and would do what He said, He made to be their true selves, their child-of-God selvesThese are the God-begotten, not blood-begotten, not flesh-begotten, not sex-begotten.

God Himself makes me become my true child of God self!

My part is to come to Him and offer up my fears, failures, false beliefs and flaws. He then takes them and fantastically forgives and sets us free in exchange.

But God goes even one step further than that. He makes us each a part of His family. His blood not only frees us from sin, it reveals who we are meant to be: His children, now able to show their Father’s image!!

Feeling a little unsure of your steps along the journey, friend?

Keep pressing in to His Word. He is a living foundation, ready to support and walk beside you with every step and breath!

Allow Holy Spirit to draw you to the Word He has for you to discover each day, as you invite Him to do so!
