The pressure was intense, and the feeling wouldn’t go away. I awoke out of a sound sleep, realizing that something was off.
Kind of like a “spidey sense,” I immediately felt prompted to pray against what I was feeling, first declaring the name of Jesus as I covered myself with His blood, and then sending whatever it was to the feet of Jesus to be judged.
And without a full awareness of what was trying to attack me, it left.
Often, when something is occurring, we have the tendency to think it is happening because of so and so’s bad mood or something in the natural. Many times, that is the case. But not always.
The Word is clear that as His children, we will find ourselves a part of a spiritual battle which started when Satan tried to make himself God, and he and his followers got kicked out of heaven forever.
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:12-13 NIV)
One of my favorite quotes gave me shivers at just how perfectly it captures how we can best make it through….
“When we are hanging on by a thread, make sure it is the hem of His garment.” -TobyMac
So how do we battle what we cannot see? Stay tuned tomorrow for the first of two posts to help us when we find ourselves in the midst of a spiritual battle.
But be encouraged that He has not only provided the tools for us to successfully use in our defense, but He Himself goes into battle on our behalf!!
