I have to admit, I love reading through the Psalms.
Because when I do, I read the words of people just like me. Who start out upset, share what is bothering them with God, and then praising Him as He encounters them, reminds them of what He has done, who He is, and the promises He has spoken over them.
Friend? If hurt or pain is pressing hard upon your heart and memories today, or knocking on your door again? Psalm 56 may be for you, too. (You can read it here.)
Two truths jumped out at me from these verses in Psalm 56:8.
“You’ve kept track of my every toss and turn through the sleepless nights.”
- The Psalmist has problems sleeping from time to time as well, and reassures us God is aware of this fact!
“Each tear entered in Your ledger, each ache written in Your book.”
2. The Psalmist reiterates that God tracks every tear & ache. Every single one.
I don’t know about you, but I draw comfort when I can approach someone with what is bothering me, and they are 100% dialed in to what I am saying and how I am feeling.
God’s waiting for you to come and lay everything out before Him, friend. Let Him pour His love back into you in the spaces and places where you are hurting. Comforter and Healer are just two of His names 🙂
