3 principles of prayer to keep

Add a heading

I love when I read a sentence, paragraph, or tweet which captures my attention, challenges me, or confirms something for me.

The founder of Alpha, Nicky Gumbel, is a fantastic communicator (up there for me with fellow faith writers Max Lucado, Karen Kingsbury, Lysa TerKeurst….) and I look forward to reading his posts on Twitter each week.

His three principles of prayer have impacted my prayer life for the better, and yet streamlined how I approach prayer at the same time.

  1. Keep it HONEST.
  2. Keep it SIMPLE.
  3. Keep it UP.

Honest, simple prayers, often lifted to Him. Regardless of how I feel, what I face or my lack of faith.

Keeping the lines of communications open with God not only helps me remain focused on Him, it calms me as I invite Him to speak with me.

Unsure what to say when you pray, friend?

  • Be honest.
  • Be brief.
  • Be praying.

What tips have you read or experienced regarding prayer?
