Before I can get dressed in the morning in my clothes for the day, there is something I need to do in order to make myself ready.
I need to take off my old clothes, and clean myself up. But not just physically.
“Put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” – Ephesians 4:22-24 ESV
I need to leave what happened yesterday in the past. Bring anything that may have hurt me or is concerning me to God, and leave it with Him. Ask Him to clean me of anything I may have picked up which isn’t spiritually healthy for me – whether a sin, a lie or a selfish desire. Ask Him to renew my mind so I can hear His voice, bring every thought captive to the cross to determine where it has come from, and put on my new self.
Child of God, made clean and right by the blood of Jesus. Made white as snow and holy by the Holy One Himself!
I love how the Message bible translates the above verses, helping me take these words to heart and put them into action.
“Since, then, we do not have the excuse of ignorance, everything—and I do mean everything—connected with that old way of life has to go. It’s rotten through and through. Get rid of it! And then take on an entirely new way of life—a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces His character in you.” Ephesians 4:22-24 MSG
So friend, today, ask Him to help you off with the old, and into these new God made clothes He has for you!
