“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place.” (Ephesians 6:14 NIV)
The first two items of the armor God provides for each of His children involve our core.
- The belt of truth remind us that His truth is to be the core of our strength.
- The breastplate of righteousness helps protect our literal core of our physical being, our heart.
We are meant to wrap these two around us each and every day, in part of our defense against the enemy but more importantly – because God directs us to so.
When we do, we are able to stand firmly in victory with His help. No matter what!
I love how the Passion Translation expresses Ephesians 6:14, as it emphasizes the importance of these two pieces of heaven given armor:
“Put on truth as a belt to strengthen you to stand in triumph. Put on holiness as the protective armor that covers your heart.”
