looking to the Word when I am in pain

There are moments when I get upset where even taking my next breath can take enormous effort when grief or pain overwhelm me.  Maybe you too can relate.

I often turn to the Psalms when I am feeling blue, low, in need, frustrated, lonely… for I find that the Psalms cover all of human emotion and incorporate devotion in their treasury of poetry, conversation and song.

One of my go to Psalms is Psalm 23, which many of you may be familiar with as well. However, I felt prompted to read these familiar comforting Words in a new translation, to ensure that I pay attention to their meaning in my life right now.

So each day this coming week, I will be sharing one verse from Psalm 23, and a related worship song, in the hopes that as I draw comfort from His Word anew, you too will be blessed if you are also going through a difficult season.

“The Lord is my best friend and my Shepherd. I always have more than enough.” Psalm 23:1 TPT

Shepherd” by Amanda Cook  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVjedGudN8w
“In the process, in the waiting, You’re making melodies over me. And Your presence is a promise for I am a pilgrim on a journey.
And You will lift my head above the mighty waves, You are able to keep me from stumbling. In my weakness You are the strength that comes from within. Good Shepherd of my soul, take my hand and lead me on.”
