Rediscovering me

Made via the free You Version Bible App

“So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you. He’ll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God, He is most careful with you.” (1 Peter 5:6 MSG)

A few years ago, someone spoke this verse out over me in a public gathering.

And honestly? I didn’t get it.

I had been battling with laying myself and my wants down, and to hear the words speaking the opposite of what I was battling confused me, to be honest.

But I respected the gift of prophecy as expressed through the vessel, so I stored it in my heart and waited for clarification.

Today, I get it. The parts I am to focus on encapsulated in this small but power filled verse.

1. Be content with who you are.

2. Be humble.

3. Live carefree before God.

Did you too notice that God does the rest of the verse? His strong hand on us, His promoting in His timing, His most careful care for us.

If you too are living in the tension of who you used to be and where God is calling you to minister, rediscover who you truly are:

His child.
Uniquely gifted.
Designed & always meant to be a blessing.
Salt to those who are stale.
Light to those who can only see darkness.
Hope to those who are in despair.
Freedom bringers to those bound by the enemy.
Love carriers who call out His design in those who can’t yet see it, and love them where they currently are.
Friend for the lonely.
Family for the widows & orphans.

Knowing that I can do all the above in Your strength, in Your timing, as You lead me, while I rest in Your love, care and protection.
