When each of my children was born, I was struck with a sudden, powerful desire from the core of who I am to do whatever I could for them.
- I put their needs before mine, especially when they were newborns.
- I awoke with them many, many times when they were sick.
I did, and still do, whatever I can to express my love for them.
STORGE.

From the ancient Greek, STORGE refers to the natural, instinctual affection kind of love between a parent and their child, and vice versa.
This storge kind of love originated with God. We saw it expressed in how God interacted between the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, but especially between Jesus and His Father in the Gospels.
God didn’t offer up just any offering to pay the price for our sin, but the best He had – His very son.
Just as you and I would do anything out of love for our children, God does the same for each of His, His children!
And if that wasn’t enough, when we accept Jesus as the payment for our sins, we are welcomed into God’s family as one of His children and heirs!
God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who He is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we are going to get what’s coming to us—an unbelievable inheritance!
