For the word of God is living and ACTIVE, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12 ESV
By definition, ACTIVE can mean…
- moving or tending to move about vigorously or frequently.
- characterized by busy or lively activity.
- alert in mind, lively.
When I read Hebrews 4:12 and spotted the word ACTIVE, it captured my attention. Maybe it does the same for you.
I often tend to overlook the truth that the Word of God is alive, just as He is. Although He has spoken it in the past, His Words never die.
That means His Words in the Word are alive. ACTIVE.
And when I am plugged into Him, actively spending time in His Presence – His Words can become ACTIVE within me.
When those Words are directional, and I follow them, I am actively walking out my faith, His Word, in my life.
When those Words are challenging, and I obey them, I am actively submitting to His reign, and His Kingdom can more actively move into and through me.
His Words are always active.
But they cannot become active within unless we actively allow them to do so.
Actively move within me, God. May my heart, mind and spirit become the active hot spots for Your Presence You desire for them to become, as I actively pursue You with all that is within me.
