DAY 15: {EVERYTHING I HOPE FOR}

When I get distracted by stuff, like what I might be lacking or a stressful situation, I’ve been seeking Him more quickly than I used to.

For I have come to understand that the quicker I turn to God in the hard moments, the more solid the ground I sense beneath me. Which is in fact, standing on His Word, putting my hope in Him, resting in His promises.

And somehow when I do, I feel all the safer for it, even on the days when I feel my heart running out of rhythm, my stress levels rising, a night of sleeplessness, or another trip to the ER with a family member. I am able to breathe in a peace beyond comprehension, and stay calm. In fact, my family can have the best time in the ER waiting room despite the seriousness of what brings us there, when we are reminded that our Hope, God, is always with us, as we wait for, and with Him.

“God, the one and only—I’ll wait as long as He says.
Everything I hope for comes from Him, so why not? He’s solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul, an impregnable castle: I’m set for life.” (Psalm 62:5-6 MSG)
