It is amazing to me that God continued to remind us, over and over, of the hope we have in Him seen from cover to cover in His Word.
(I am only 16 verses away from concluding this series of #66versesofhope, but some of these verses are favorites which continue to rekindle my hope each and every time I read them. May He bless us both through taking them to heart & putting our belief of them into action in our lives!)
These verses on Matthew 12 echo the description of who Messiah would be in Isaiah 42… seen in Jesus while He ministered throughout Israel. What an amazing snapshot it is of who Jesus would be/is – but my favorite part to focus on is found in the last verse….
"Look well at My handpicked servant; I love Him so much, take such delight in Him. I’ve placed my Spirit on Him; He’ll decree justice to the nations. But He won’t yell, won’t raise His voice; there’ll be no commotion in the streets. He won’t walk over anyone’s feelings, won’t push you into a corner. Before you know it, His justice will triumph; the mere sound of His name will signal hope, even among far-off unbelievers." (Matthew 12:16-21 MSG)
Not only did this King of Kings walk humbly on the earth and live out of His true kingdom, but…
1) He was known by His kind ways. Never abusing His power, nor pushing His views upon another. His character was and is one worth taking note of.
2) His justice will triumph in every nation. His kingdom will reign forever, so even though we see terrible things on our streets now – they have a time limit on how long they will endure.
3) The mere sound of HIS NAME signals HOPE! Both His Kindness and His Kingship intermingle into the very sound of His Name, Jesus, and ignite hope in those who hear it!
Friend, today’s verses remind us of two things.
*He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, so His character is unchanging.
*He is the Hope this world needs…so He will not stop until the world, and all who believe in Him are His, once and for all eternity!
How’s that for a hope filled bunch o’verses today!?!!
