If you are anything like me, you have a certain way you like to fix your coffee. (I like mine with stevia or maple MCT oil, and if it’s hot out, add coconut milk for an iced latte.)
It occurred to me with today’s verse that our hope is the same. It needs to be fixed to something in order for it to be at its best. Today’s verse gives us a clue as to how to best do so.
“So then, prepare your hearts and minds for action! Stay alert and fix your hope firmly on the marvelous grace that is coming to you. For when Jesus Christ is unveiled, a greater measure of grace will be released to you.”(1 Peter 1:13 TPT)
- We are to get ready for action,
- Remain on high alert
- Fix our hope upon the grace we receive in and from Jesus
The last one sounds more complicated than it is. What we need to do is to keep in His Word, remain close to Him through prayer, worship Him for who He is, and invite Him to move in and through me.
When we do our part, which is really laying everything down at His feet and asking for His help, He does His part and answers us by stepping in to whatever situation we need. It may be He gives us extra patience and grace for that cranky toddler who doesn’t get why we can’t play in the park behind our homes right now. He may give you extra mercy and forgiveness towards that person who has unintentionally hurt you for the umpteenth time. He may give you a boost of love when you feel your most unlovely. He may open, or close, the door ahead depending on His best for you. He may give you peace in the chaos, anchor you in the storm, or just be with you ias you grieve your loss.
The key here is to fix our hope on Him. For He is worthy of it. He has extended His hand to do so, while simultaneously paying the price to make it available for all. We can have hope each and every day, because Hope is a person who remains true to His word, constant of heart, and ever present with us.
What a great verse to add to our stockpile of hope filled verses, friend!
