Don’t you ever wish you could go back? To a place in time or space where you felt the most whole, the most loved, the most you?
I know I do, especially on the days where the bills and laundry are piled up, work deadlines approach quicker than anticipated, and harsh words have combined to knock your peace down a notch?
I think we are, each of us, longing for Eden. Where we walked with God in unbroken fellowship, knew our purpose and lived in harmony with creation.
The good news, friend, which I was reminded of through two sources today, the Word and a study I just started, that those of us who trust in God are headed back to Eden. The Eden God will restore on the earth when Jesus returns to set things right, once and for all.
✓No more disappointments.
✓No more pain, cancer or surgery.
✓No more exhaustion nor stress.
✓No more loss or grief.
✓But most importantly, no more feeling abandoned, lonely, or unloved… for God Himself will live with us again, always!
“Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” (Revelation 21:3-5)
May the truth of these precious promises yet to come echo within our hearts and minds when we need them most. When we need to be reminded of how the Story ends, that the disappointments of this world are just a part of our story, not the final chapter!
God is coming to restore us back to what He intended for His children when He designed Eden – back to where you and I belong!
