This past week, I have pushed my body beyond its usual boundaries, and physical weariness hit yesterday morning, to join the weariness of not seeing results from months of hard work in ministry, and the weariness in my spirit in need of refreshing.
Early in the week, I printed off 10 verses which have helped me stay focused on God as my strength through this season. Sharing those verses with you here, with the hope that they will also bless you if you too are weary, whether right now or in the future.
“Are you WEARY, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to Me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis.” (Matt.11:28)
“O God of my life, I’m lovesick for you in this WEARY wilderness. I thirst with deep longings to love you more, with cravings in my heart that can’t be described…” (Ps. 63:1)
“I could only chirp like a swallow or small bird; I could only moan like a dove. My eyes are WEARY from looking up to heaven. Yahweh, I am so depressed. Come and be my strength.” (Is. 38:14)
“Don’t allow yourselves to be WEARY or disheartened in planting good seeds, for the season of reaping the wonderful harvest you’ve planted is coming!” (Gal. 6:9)
“Brothers & sisters, don’t ever grow WEARY in doing what is right.” (2 Thess. 3:13)
“…Yahweh is the one & only everlasting God, the Creator of all you can see & imagine! He never gets WEARY or worn out…” (Is. 40:28)
“But those who wait for Yahweh’s grace will experience divine strength. They will rise up on soaring wings & fly like eagles, run their race without growing WEARY, and walk through life without giving up.” (Is. 40:31)
“Like a drink of cool water to a WEARY, thirsty soul, so hearing good news revives the spirit.” (Prov. 25:25)
“You O God sent the reviving rain upon your WEARY inheritance, showers of blessing to refresh it.” (Ps. 68:9)
“Each will be a hiding place from the stormy wind and a secret shelter from the tempest. Life will flow from each one, like streams of water in the desert, like the refreshing shade of a massive rock in a WEARY, thirsty land.” (Is. 32:2)
