Be Grateful – Psalm 63:5-8 MSG

Some times when you take a fresh look at a familiar passage, you see something new.

I have been reading the Psalms for decades, and recently have been rereading them along with my Dwell Bible audio app each morning.

And a part of Psalm 63 jumped out at me as it drew my eyes to it.

“I eat my fill of prime rib and gravy; I smack my lips. It’s time to shout praises! If I’m sleepless at midnight, I spend the hours in GRATEFUL reflection. ” (Psalm 63:5-6 MSG)

Now for me, roast turkey & potato stuffing cause me to smack my lips & offer praise to God. But I must confess, when I have difficulty sleeping, reading is my go to. Not recounting my blessings.

The following two sentences are the first two things the author is grateful for…

“Because You’ve always stood up for me, I’m free to run & play. I hold on to You for dear life, and You hold me steady as a post.” (Psalm 63:7-8 MSG)

God is always in his corner, and is His solid Rock. Two things each of us who follow God should be able to be grateful for each and every day.

I am exceptionally grateful that God hears every one of my spoken and silent prayers, and saves each of my tears, reminding me that I am precious to Him!

What is on the top of your gratitude list?
