🧁”Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see— how good God is. Blessed are you who run to Him. Worship God if you want the best; worship opens doors to all His goodness.”
(Psalm 34:8-9 MSG)
✉️You may recognize the verse ‘address’ but not these words. This 1st of these verses is usually translated ‘Taste and see that the Lord is good’ but usually people stop quoting it there. Yet the 2nd half of verse 8 explains that we are to run to Him and His goodness.
Because you can’t experience eating something without it touching you, and it’s hard to do so well without seeing what you are eating ➡️ in the same fashion it is hard to experience His goodness without close contact.
✍️But verse 9 takes that pursuit and expands upon it. When we worship God, we open the doors to receive His blessings (taste) and (see) His goodness.
📖I have often wondered why God talks about doors or gates so often in the Word. I honestly think in our day to day living, we all walk through doors all day long – our rooms, our front door, our car doors, our work place doors, the doors to the stores we frequent, friend and family’s doors, church doors…
🚪Doors are common for everyone regardless of culture, and easily recognizable to all.
🙌Yet somehow the worship we offer God opens doors to freedom, making way for blessing and His goodness to enter our lives.
💨Don’t know about you, but I often rush my ‘God time’ meals, and settle for a snack on the go. Instead of intentionally savoring the Word & thankfully offering it back to Him in worship.
🍩Donuts are great, but they are not a balanced meal full of nutrients, vitamins, protein & fibre my body needs to function at optimal health.
🌿Today’s verses serve as a reminder to me that they are key to opening the doors He has for those who follow Him. And equally filling to my spirit as a 3 course meal!
